I would just add that it doesn’t grow much over the course of your life as at the age of 2, it is already 80% of its final adult size. But if it isn’t growing much, you keep creating new neurons all your life! What does change over time is the ability to create connections between those new neurons and the old ones. If they can’t do that, the new one die. This happens more and more as you get older.
