Good question, I actually do not know in Biomedical Science there are many fields I have chosen to specialise in blood transfusion at present but maybe one day I might try out the other disciplines such as Haematology (Study of blood) this is more hospital based or Microbiology (study of all the microbes etc that make us unwell). I looked at doing forensic science when I was picking my subjects at high school to help uncover who carried out murders like the TV show CSI however there are hardly any jobs in the UK in this profession so hence I changed to a degree more suitable. My degree could also be used if I decided to teach with a few more years at university or I could go work for the water companies and test water samples to ensure they were safe for drinking just to give a few examples but the possibilities are endless.

Waouh, that is such a tricky question because there are so many topics I would like to research… I am fascinated about what is happening in the brain, especially related to diseases like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s that affect the connection between neurons. I also used to work with tiny bubbles that we can load with drugs, inject in the bloodstream and control their behaviour using ultrasound. This is a very promising technique to get medicine to the brain! I would also love to work in cancer research as they are many intriguing discoveries on potential treatments. I would have a tough time making a choice 🙂

I really enjoyed my day out with the ambulance service during training. I’d love to be a paramedic.
